Looking for a new style this season? Why not try dreadlocks extensions? They are the new hot trend and they are easy to wear. You don’t have to make your dreadlocks from your own hair – you can braid in ready-made curls instead.

They are soft on the skin, odorless and non-itchy. Wear them as long as you want, maybe on vacation or at the festival. Then, when you want your old hairstyle back, simply take them out.

It’s as simple as dividing your hair into different sections and then braiding in the finished dreadlock. You choose how many you want to use and the volume you want to achieve. With the help of a mirror, you can do it all by yourself. There are also different types and styles to choose from.

This is a great style for those looking for something new and different. If you’ve been thinking about trying dreadlocks, now is the time!

No, it is not. Dreadlocks protect your natural hair and growth from wear and tear that could otherwise damage your hair if you were to wear it down, that’s one deceiving factor why it’s so popular!

Wearing dreadlocks for the first time may feel foreign to you in the first week. After that, you should feel comfortable and can start rocking your new look!

Well-groomed dreads can last as long as you want, it all depends on you and how you maintain them.

The first thing to consider is that dry hair breaks easily. Therefore, it is important that you always keep your scalp and hair clean and moisturized when wearing dreadlocks.

This is done by applying oil directly to the scalp as needed, or by using a water-based moisturizing spray that is sprayed directly onto the scalp.

It is recommended to use natural oils such as coconut oil, olive oil and Jamaican black castor oil products as they keep your hair healthy and growing strong.

PS: Be careful with products because too much oil in the hair clogs the hair pores.

Taking care of your Dreadlocks

Dreadlocks require very little maintenance and last longer than many other hairstyles.
But they still need to be maintained. By keeping them clean, they will also keep their beauty.

Take care of your dreadlocks by washing them every 2-4 days and reattaching them every 4 weeks.

Wash your dreads:

Washing your hair often contributes to healthy hair growth. You know your braids are ready to be washed when you start to feel a build-up on your scalp.

    • Soak your dreads with warm water.
    • Shampoo your dreads from the scalp to the ends.

PS: Dry shampoos should be avoided as they leave residue in your dreadlocks.
    • Using lukewarm water, rinse your dreads until it is clean of all shampoo.
    • Apply a natural hair conditioner to your dreads and scalp; massage in thoroughly, then rinse with lukewarm water.

Drying your dreads

Squeeze your dreadlocks with your hand, then use a microfiber towel to gently dry them until it stops dripping. We recommend air-drying your dreadlocks.

Ps: Do not use a cotton towel to dry your dreadlocks. Always use a microfiber towel to avoid leaving lint from the towel in your hair.

Make your dreads last longer

Replace your dreads every four weeks or when you feel they are too loose. Upon turnover, your dreads will be like new again. Apply a water-based moisturizing spray directly to the roots of your scalp before rearranging your dreads.

Ps: It is recommended to never re-do dreadlocks when they are dry as this will lead to thinning of your hair. It is also important never to wrap them too tightly as this may cause pain.

Wrap your dreads in a silk cap before going to bed to keep them fresh. This will also reduce the damage to your natural hair.
